Comb the Beach! (Title idea stolen from Sam)

What a day!
I had a yearning to visit the Oregon Coast and Sam decided to take me there with his first paycheck! We had such a blast!! We drove from Portland to Cannon Beach (to avoid Hood to Coast traffic going to Seaside) on 26 and ended up at Ecola State Park. I had hoped to take Sam to Indian beach (one of my favorite beaches accessed from Ecola) but it was completely full! We could have hiked over, but we decided to hike to a different beach we had never been to called Crescent Beach. It is not accessible by car, so we hiked through the dense forest for two and a half miles to reach it. What an adventure it was! And WELL worth it!!

Driving to Cannon Beach and listening to "Lord, Change My Attitude Before It's Too Late!" (10 week sermon series by Pastor James MacDonald.... AWESOME!)
First glimpse of the surf...
Me on the trail...
A beautiful Sitka Spruce...
We met some Elk on the trail grazing and taking advantage of the shade. They were so close--one of them was less than 10 feet from us at one point. They weren't afraid of being so near although they were watching our every moves...
We caught a sneak peak of Crescent Beach from a viewpoint on the trail...

Lord, you're beautiful!
Sam and I were so happy to be at the coast...
Sam in front of the "grandfather" Sitka Spruce. 6'4" is nothing compared to this...
Lovely pine...
Sam is a tree hugger...
I made a friend on the trail and saved him from harm's way...
Finally, we get to dig our toes into the warm sand!
So happy...
We met a brother and sister of the faith from Israel who had a crazy-awesome story. Here is the note we left them by their belongings when we left...
Sam and I drove from Cannon Beach all the way down Highway 101 along the Oregon Coast to Pacific City...
But we had to make a pit-stop in Tillamook at the cheese factory!
Sam drooling...er...I mean...looking at the ice cream...
They had mango sorbet! Yum...
Me trying to cheer up a sad cow...
Yum!
We climbed these sand dunes at Pacific City that were huge!
A human would be a spec at the top of that dune...
Watch your step!
Sam's top 5 best days ever smile...
We love Pacific City!
Sunset...
Me killing my calves trying to climb over the dune after sunset. We ran all the way down and it was a blast!!

  2. Sounds like you two had a great time. Great pictures (as usual).

I hope that your next road trip will be a little farther West...like to the Mid-west. Ha! Or I could say it like this "come East to the Mid-west". Sounds silly. Hmmm...

    Thanks for sharing!
