a camping we will go!

A couple weeks ago, the hubs and I took a nice retreat to the beach to go camping while Salie stayed with grandma and grandpa. It figures, the weekend we decide to go camping is full of rain! But we are PORTLANDERS-- do not mess with us! Instead of complaining, we spent a half hour problem-solving how to set up our tarp without string and were victorious, of course. We are just awesomely resourceful like that.

We had fun with our furry daughter, the Pipes. She was overjoyed to be an only child once more and to be at her favorite place in the world. We all made many discoveries. I collected shells for crafting purposes. Piper found a lot of dead things washed ashore like this loon and crab...

The hubs and I discovered this awesome driftwood tree and it's beautifully Van Gogh-ed root system...
The island we camped out on was a nature park with lots of trails for us to explore. There were so many beautiful things growing and waiting to be photographed, of course.

We shared our campground with a giant scooter gang that showed up and took four or five campsites...
At the end of the day, the hubs showed off his manly fire-making skills and we roasted smores!
