A new month.

There are many splendid things about this month. It is the beginning of academics for many, it is the first whisper of fall, but did you know what else September holds? I thought I should clue you all in on important September dates!

4th: the Isle of Manhattan was discovered by Henry Hudson (1609) 
5th: Freddie Mercury's birthday and National Be Late for Something Day and Labor Day
6th: National Read a Book Day
9th: Teddy Bear Day 
11th: 10 year anniversary of the September 11th attacks and Grandparents Day
16th: Mexican Independence Day 
19th: International Talk Like a Pirate Day
21st: International Day of Peace and Autumnal Equinox
22nd: Elephant Appreciation Day
23rd: Native American Day
28th: National Good Neighbor Day and Ask a Stupid Question Day 

In the US, September is National Preparedness month, Classical Music month, Hispanic Heritage month, Fall Hat month, Blueberry Popsicle month, Courtesy month, Piano month, Chicken month, Baby Safety month, Little League month, Honey month, Self Improvement month and Better Breakfast month. Whew! Oh, I almost forgot that it is also International Square Dancing month.  

Whatever you choose to celebrate, say you remember dancing in September(never was a cloudy day)!
