poetry lately...

movement 1
via

untitled

this morning
you flew by the
tree
outside my
window as i
sipped english tea
for breakfast.
cream.
two lumps.
i only saw your
silhouette
through slats
of mini-blinds,
but your spirit was
warm down
my throat like
the tea,
keeping the emptiness
from freezing.

my heart was secure
as a walnut
hanging
from that tree
when
you sought to
make home
in
a branch
close by.

i was afraid
that you saw
me--right through
the hull
surrounding
me.
i braced myself, but
you gently
broke
me open and
freed
me from decay.
