The Pumpkin Patch

Sunday we took Salem to the Pumpkin Patch at Sauvie Island for the second year in a row. I love creating traditions with our little family. It was so fun experiencing it through her eyes at the age she is now. She was excited about EVERYTHING. Especially the barn animals. She cried briefly on the way home because she said she forgot to see them again. We actually did the corn maze this year, which was new for us. I've never been in a corn maze before and I thought it was beautiful. The corn stalks are so lovely in the textures they create against a white sky. Salem loved giving us directions... "This way or that way?" She even enjoyed the hayride out to the pumpkin fields this year, which was quite a different story than last year. It was dry all morning and only began to rain as we were heading back to the car. We drove home to a house filled with the smell of roasted chicken and vegetables slow-cooking in the crockpot.
